Project 4

Picture
TITLE: ADLER-3222

Description:

ADLER-3222 is a radio controlled aircraft. ADLER in German means EAGLE to which I have added 3222. 3222 stands for 32'' wingspan and 22'' fuselage length.

The thrust produced by the propeller and motor is about 1000 grams and the plane weigh is 560 grams.

This is the first time i have designed an aero model. In the beginning the aerodynamics part was little cumbersome but later on many references have helped me out. I worked on it with lot of enthusiasm because flying machines fascinates me all the time. I have enjoyed seeing the corrugated plastic sheets taking the form of a plane. The aero dynamic structure is made out of corrugated plastic sheets and some foam. This RC plane is a 5 channel plane with throttle, ailerons, elevator, rudder and flaps. I have used FLYSKY 9 channel transmitter and receiver for this model. The landing gear is made out of thin steel rods and light weight wheels.

With this project I gained experience in building aero models but am not good at flying them. Am practicing flying on simulators. Hope one day I will fly RC plane with much ease.

Results:

Building RC PLANE is fun as well as educational activity. I worked on this project to take part in BOEING sponsored event SKYSPARKS at TECHKRITI 2012 in IIT-KANPUR. ADLER-3222 is one out of about 200 RC PLANES that took part in SKYSPARKS. When working on this project, am completely new to RC PLANES. The links provided below helped me a lot with the aerodynamics part and building tips and techniques. I enjoyed each and ever stage of building ADLER-3222 which involved a lot of creative work. What ever at the end, I have qualified in the preliminaries round but in the next round, my plane crashed into a tree. I am sure my plane was perfect but pilot (me) was not. I din't get any time to practice the maneuvers. So, my plane ended up in a crash.
