Project 10

Picture
TITLE: COMPUTER OPERATED WEAPON

Description:

After building a few robots, I came to know that robots can be built using a printer port. I have started referring books and have browsed numerous sites and gathered some information. Using my previous knowledge and the new information on parallel port, I have started building this bot. In the beginning I was baffled with this new idea later on I felt quite comfortable as my references are on the positive side.

Computer control for robots is easier than using microcontrollers for two reasons. Firstly, the programming becomes really easy with C language or JAVA. Secondly, the circuits are very less complicated while using a parallel port. The data is always transferred in parallel so there is no much trouble of encoding and later decoding the data to make it possible for serial transmission.

The main idea of this bot is to fire at the enemies using a computer as a medium of communication between the bot and the operator. The wireless camera transmits live video and using this video as visual aid, the operator can control this bot. The gun mounted on this bot is having pan and tilt motion.

Results:

Actually I did not build this robot to present at any exhibitions or open hardware contests. I had a special liking for guns and so I had created this project. I participated in one competition with this robot without much expectation but did well.

won the 1st  prize in ACTUATORS’11 at AITAM, Tekkali in 2011.
